$500 temporary golf-cart authorization

Security for documented loss—not an automatic charge.

The authorization temporarily reserves card capacity. Wavy may capture only a permitted, supported amount under the signed agreement and the process below.

Core distinction

A hold affects spending capacity. It is not rental revenue.

Wavy asks the payment processor to reserve up to the stated amount shortly before delivery. The issuer may reduce available credit or funds. Wavy submits a release after a clear return, but the issuer controls when the available balance visibly updates.

Wavy may

Authorize the disclosed amount on an eligible card
Capture a documented amount allowed by the signed terms
Release or cancel the unused authorization
Seek a documented amount above the hold when lawful

Wavy may not

Treat the full hold as an automatic fee
Charge normal wear or recorded pre-existing damage
Use an arbitrary estimate without support
Represent the hold as insurance or a liability cap

Disclose

The reservation and signature flow show the amount separately from rent.

Authorize

An eligible card is authorized shortly before delivery; no automatic capture occurs merely because use begins.

Inspect

Starting and return condition, equipment, fuel and exceptions are recorded.

Release or itemize

Clear returns proceed to release. A proposed charge receives evidence and a written breakdown.

Maximum transparency

Permitted post-rental categories

Amounts are based on documented reasonable cost and the stated caps. One event cannot be charged twice under different labels.

Physical damage or missing equipment

Documented reasonable parts, labor, tax, transport and replacement cost, less applicable salvage or recoveries.

Extraordinary cleaning

Documented labor and supplies, capped at $150. Ordinary vacation sand and routine turnover are not chargeable.

Smoke, vape or prohibited-substance remediation

Documented remediation, capped at $250.

Fuel shortage

Actual fuel plus a $25 mobile refueling service charge when the cart is not returned at the delivered fuel level.

Late return

$25 per started hour after a 15-minute grace period, capped at the then-current 24-hour rental rate, plus documented recovery cost if the vehicle must be retrieved elsewhere.

Key or control replacement

Actual replacement, programming and delivery cost.

Recovery, towing or impound

Actual third-party charges plus documented Wavy recovery labor when caused by prohibited use, abandonment, impound or renter breach.

Not chargeable

What the authorization does not cover

Ordinary wear from proper rental use
Routine turnover and ordinary vacation sand
Damage recorded before delivery
Manufacturer defect or unrelated mechanical failure
A Wavy service mistake or unauthorized duplicate amount
Unsupported estimates, penalties or betterment
Amounts recovered from insurance, a responsible third party or salvage
Any charge prohibited by applicable law or card rules

Due process

Evidence, notice and dispute workflow

Return review. Wavy compares the starting and return records, service notes, customer photos and incident information.
Preserve evidence. Material photos, estimates, invoices, third-party charges and the calculation are retained with the booking.
Send notice. Wavy emails an itemized proposed charge and available supporting evidence to the renter’s booking address.
Allow response. The renter may dispute facts or supply contrary evidence within seven calendar days of notice.
Authorization deadline. If the card authorization will expire before review finishes, Wavy may capture a good-faith supported amount that is then adjusted or refunded after resolution.
Final statement. Wavy sends the result, credits, refunds and any balance still claimed. Cardholder and regulatory rights remain available.

What if loss exceeds $500?

The hold is not a liability ceiling. Wavy may seek a documented permitted balance above it, and the renter may dispute that claim. Wavy must credit insurance, salvage, third-party recovery and prior payment for the same loss.
