Use this page before a trip and whenever something feels wrong. Protect people, stop using unsafe equipment and call 911 for an injury, missing paddler or immediate danger.
Before a road trip
Golf-cart and scooter safety check
- People
Correct approved operator, one rider per designated position, restraints or helmet secure and no impairment.
- Equipment
Tires appear sound; steering and brakes feel normal; lights, mirrors, horn and required equipment are present.
- Route
Use the vehicle-specific approved route. Golf-cart streets must be eligible and posted 25 mph or less.
- Conditions
Visibility, weather, traffic and operator ability support a safe return.
Before every launch
Paddleboard go/no-go check
- Paddler
Approved adult, properly fitted life jacket worn, sober, healthy and independently able to remount, turn and return.
- Package
Board, fin, adjustable paddle, life jacket and leash are present and undamaged. Use the leash only as instructed.
- Water
The approved launch is open; observed wind, current, surf, tide, boat traffic and visibility match the plan.
- Return
A reliable person has the float plan, and the route returns with margin before darkness or changing conditions.

Stabilize
Call emergency services and protect people from traffic, water, fire, weather or further impact.
Report
Contact law enforcement or rescue when appropriate, then Wavy with the exact location and safety status.
Document
When safe, capture parties, witnesses, damage, equipment and the report or case number.
Wait
Do not resume operation or enter the water until Wavy or authorities confirm the next safe action.
